It is an international exhibition held every 5 years, in different countries around the world, with the aExpoim of displaying achievements in several fields. The exhibition lasts for 6 months, during which it attracts millions of visitors with the aim of learning about the pavilions and events held within the exhibition, which are organized by millions of participants, including companies, governments and international organizations.
The International or World Fair is a huge public exhibition that has been organized every five years in one of the cities of the world since the nineteenth century. It is noteworthy that a distinction must be made between the exhibitions that were organized before the establishment of the International Bureau of Exhibitions in 1928, and those supervised by this office that began in 1931.
The Bureau International des Expositions is the body or organization supervising these international exhibitions, and gives the concept of these exhibitions that they exist “for the purpose of educating the public, and making an effort with the resources available to man to meet the needs of civilization or the needs of the branches of human activity for progress and to reach future horizons.” These exhibitions are considered international because many countries participate in them.
Participants in these exhibitions are mainly states and governments, then associations, companies, institutions and bodies.
International exhibitions were established to present industrial inventions to various countries. It provides the technological and industrial interface for participating countries, reflecting the progress achieved by the Industrial Revolution. The first international exhibition was held in London in 1851.
Initially, each participating country was allocated its own space in the exhibition's central pavilion. Since 1867, participating countries began establishing their own pavilions in various forms. However, this action is usually taken only when the participating country displays something that does not fit in the designated place in the central exhibition stand. Not all countries were allowed to establish their display center in an architectural style consistent with the characteristics of the country.
Several medals were awarded to the country that demonstrated the best performance and added something in one of the fields.
